Uniting the Hospitality Industry
At the UK Hospitality Trade Union, we are the united voice for workers across the UK's vibrant and dynamic hospitality sector. From restaurants to hotels, catering services to pubs, we represent the backbone of an industry that is vital to the nation’s economy and culture. Our mission is simple: to advocate for fair treatment, safe working conditions, and equitable pay for every hospitality worker, regardless of their role or experience.
We believe that every worker deserves a living wage and fair benefits. We are committed to negotiating on behalf of our members to ensure that pay reflects the true value of their work and that benefits like sick leave, holiday pay, and pensions are standard across the industry.
No one should have to work in an environment that puts their health or dignity at risk. We advocate for safe working conditions, from proper health and safety measures to protection against harassment and abuse. We work tirelessly to ensure that our members can do their jobs with confidence and peace of mind.
The UKHU and our reward partners will offer you expert legal advice, wellbeing support and continued protection.
We are the only UK Union that solely supports members of the hospitality industry. We give you protection, representation, a voice that is listened to and we surround you with an army of supporting companies that both celebrate and reward your hard work and dedication.

Frequently Asked Questions
My issue at work occurred before I joined UKHU,
can you still help me?
Due to the demand from existing members unfortunately we can not take on pre-existing issues. However, if you need a representative present at a work place disciplinary or grievance meeting for a pre-existing issue, we will provide you with an experienced rep for a one off payment of £100. Please note that this is at our discretion.
I work as security at a pub, can I join?
We do not cover SIA security workers but our partner union, the Security Industry Federation does, please visit www.sif.org.uk
I only work part time in the hospitality industry,
can I still join?
Yes! Whether you are full time, part time or on a zero hour contract you can join the UKHU if you work in the UK's hospitality industry.
Is the UKHU a certified Trade Union?
No, but this doesn't mean we are not a trade union. Every new trade union has to go through an application process to the Certification Officer before they are accepted and added to the official UK Home Office list of trade unions. During this time a trade union still operates as normal in order to provide evidence of working with its members in individual and collective cases. UKHU staff are all experienced trade union employees and we expect this process to take around 6 months from launch date. This does not affect your legal right to have a UKHU trade union representative present.
