Uniting The Hospitality Industry
The UK Hospitality Trade Union is built on real experience within the UK’s vibrant and varied hospitality sector. Our members work across restaurants, hotels, pubs, catering services and many other settings, forming the backbone of an industry that plays a vital role in the nation’s economy and culture.
Our primary strength is workplace representation. When members face difficulties at work, they are not left to deal with them alone. We provide clear, informed support with disciplinary processes, grievances, disputes, health and safety concerns and everyday workplace issues. Our approach is personal, practical and grounded in a deep understanding of the realities of hospitality work.
We believe every hospitality worker deserves dignity, respect and a safe working environment. We stand with members to ensure their rights are upheld, their concerns are heard, and they can carry out their roles with confidence and security. Protection against harassment, unsafe conditions or unfair treatment is at the centre of what we do.

Frequently Asked Questions
My issue at work occurred before I joined UKHU,
can you still help me?
As a union we must always prioritise our existing members and as such we can not take on pre-existing issues as standard. However, if you need a representative present at a work place disciplinary or grievance meeting for a pre-existing issue, we can sometimes provide representation for a one off payment of up to £100. Please note that this is at our discretion and subject to availability.
I work as security at a pub, can I join?
We do not cover SIA security workers but our partner union, the Security Industry Federation does, please visit www.sif.org.uk
I only work part time in the hospitality industry,
can I still join?
Yes! Whether you are full time, part time or on a zero hour contract you can join the UKHU if you work in the UK's hospitality industry.
Is the UKHU a certified Trade Union?
Not yet, but this doesn't mean we are not a trade union. Every new trade union has to go through an application process to the Certification Officer before they are accepted and added to the official UK Home Office list of trade unions. During this time a trade union still operates as normal in order to provide evidence of working with its members in individual and collective cases. UKHU reps are all experienced trade union employees and as such are eligible to attend hearings.. This does not affect your legal right to have a UKHU trade union representative present.
